Abeja Soul is a website dedicated to writing and creative journaling. I have been doing both for over 10 years and have a lot of tips, tricks, and ideas to share. It is a place for the person who has always wanted to write or journal and is ready to start the journey. It is also for the experienced writer or creative journaler who would like to meet other likeminded souls.

Unpopular Stories of Mexico

The Unpopular Stories of Mexico newsletter is a project that began in 2023 when I decided to learn about my history and culture. Being Mexican Indigenous came with its traumas that I realized needed to be addressed, and so this newsletter was born. The stories you'll find here are ones that I too am learning along the way and which have easily debunked the popular narrative (hence the "unpopular" in the title) that is repeated in Mexican history. Expect to find viceroyalties, not colonies, alliances between "enemies," and enslavement but not of the Indigenous peoples.

Ofelia: An Orchid in the Sierra

My current major project is my first novel, with the working title, Ofelia: An Orchid in the Sierra, which is inspired by the difficult relationship I had with my grandmother. It explores themes of family, heritage, and acceptance. It is a story that combines magic realism, memoir, and creative non-fiction to tell the stories of two women–the living granddaughter, and the dead grandmother–and learn what it means to love and honor one's family history and ancestry while searching for our individuality.
