We are fortunate, my family and I, to have a home in Mexico where we can enjoy some time together and where I can do some creative art journaling, especially with the beautiful scenery around us. Our home in Mexico is where I’m working from at the moment—with my laptop, a cup of tea, and listening to the roosters and the rain outside. Meanwhile, my husband and my son are sleeping. We’ve had a long trip driving out here.
The Road Trip
Along the way, we purchased strawberries, pecans, fish, grasshoppers, and some beautiful copper cups and a pitcher. I also picked up a handful of beautiful red dirt from the side of the road in Zacatecas. A post on that is coming to the Tinta y Miel newsletter. And I’m excited about making some paint with this dirt for my creative art journal.
Some pictures from the road.

Finally, in our home in Mexico
This morning, my routine was as usual: get up, shower, get dressed, fix my hair and my makeup, and sit down to do some form of meditation (praying, creative art journaling, or drawing a mandala), and then write or work on whatever project I’m working on.
I like the peacefulness here, the soft light of a still-hidden sun. Out here, we are far from the city and far enough away from the center of town that we can not hear anything. Not a car, not people walking, not the water guy, the gas guy, or the fruit seller. Only the rain. It’s nice, this silence.
Here are a few pictures of our home that we hope to make into an Airbnb soon! 🙂

The Nopal Zine is in the Shop
Currently, I’ve been working on The Nopal Zine, which I just finished. It’s up on my shop, Miel y Papel, now and will be free until next Wednesday, June 24th! It’s downloadable and comes with instructions on how to print.
Here are a couple of pictures of the many iterations it went through until I figured out how to format it for download and printing.

You can read more about the nopal at the Tinta y Miel newsletter. I’ve also been collecting some cool information on Mexican history, so be sure to check that out in the newsletter in the following weeks.
And some creative art journaling
Also, I’ll be taking the time to do some fun art journaling. When we came around this time last year, I brought my art journal and some art journaling supplies. I left those here and brought a few more things this time that I’m excited to try out. Here are a couple of pictures of what I made last time.

Hasta la proxima!
